Bird Population and Distribution Surveys - Industrial and Environmental

• Single or multi-species, numeric or geographic distribution, habitat preferences of local populations, plus identification of current and likely threats associated with any proposals.

Nest Box and Habitat Improvment

• Advice and/or practical assistance with construction and provision of nest boxes for specific or general species occupation.

• Advice and/or practical assistance with habitat management and/or improvement aimed at enhancing the composition of bird species present, specifically or generally, in farmed, industrial or natural habitats.

Farm Estate Breeding Studies

I currently supervise around 360 nest boxes distributed about four Devon farmland estates, main purposes of which include:

• Annual monitoring of these same nest sites plus any associated nests of species not using boxes.

• Ongoing population monitoring of all bird species involved on the land, with associated ringing of all available adults and nestlings.

• In some cases, associated mapping and ongoing monitoring of mammal, plant and insect populations.

• In all cases all data is annually submitted to relevant national or county recorder(s), e.g. British Trust for Ornithology, Devon Wildlife Trust.
